Yes, you should set both. But you can use your iFly to change the SkyGuard's Squawk code, no need to open an app on your phone or iPad.

Sounds even better.

Ralph, I look forward to the photos of your mounting as I am sitting here, not so patiently, waiting for UPS to deliver my SkyGuard transceiver today. I am planning a long cross-country this weekend and hope to have everything working by then. I am glad to hear that the 720 and SkyGuard pair easily. I was a little concered as I have had trouble with my WiFi but after reading another post by Walter to delete the hotspots that were not in use I have had no trouble. Thanks for the reports. I will try to post a report after my install. It should be interesting for a while seeing how much info I can get near my home here in Utah since they don't have any operating ADS-B towers here ... yet.

I have now received my SkyGuard. I have my 720 at work and so I powered them both up to test it out. Everything went just as the instructions said until I tried to update my N number. Every time I try to update the N number, Transponder code or squawk code the hourglass spins and then I get an error code: "Update message was not confirmed". It shows the name of the device and says Connected. The WiFi seems to be connected fine. I even deleted all other previous WiFi routers. Brown was slow today so it is too late to call in to iFly. I guess I will wait until tomorrow to see if they have any ideas.

Tom: It is an absolute MUST that the all the antennae on the SkyGuard be plugged in securely, especially the GPS antenna. Else it goes into a loop internally. So make sure everything is connected securely on the SkyGuard before you power it up. Then I wonder what iFly Nav software version you are using. Right now 7.6.13 is the current production version and you should be running that (at least). I think someone reported previously they were getting an error setting the squawk code or Ident using the entry box on the iFly software, but Walter addressed that right away with a new version, and I recall that may have been 7.6.13. Version 7.6.14 available as a beta version, but it does not appear you have access to beta. I know it works like a charm. All I can say is I have had no trouble entering any of the information - registration number, ICAO number, a squawk code or Ident using versions .13 and /or .14. I hope a version update or reload solves your problem. ===Ralph
