OK. I hve seen this several times now.

My LG Gpad will just stop displaying any motion of my aircraft.

I will be coming up an an airport checkpoint and my aircraft ICON just stops moving. I still see targets and all else looks normal.

So I have to switch to my back up Samsung NOTE4 phone.

I like to use the tablet for the larger screen and it fits on my kneeboard.

Have no idea what is causing this.

The obvious guess here is that for some reason your LG Gpad GPS receiver loses it's GPS lock, and thus stops sending iFly updates. There is nothing in the iFly software, that I know of, which would cause the outage to occur for any other reason (that I can think of). If you want to diagnose further, you can do "Menu => About => Send Bug Report => Select File" and find the log who's filename matches the date/time of the event you just described -- and I'll check the log for hints or confirmation.

The other thing you can do is download "GPS Test" app from the Play Store, and when this happens, bring up this app to see what it says about GPS locks with various satellites. It's probably not a good time to do something like this, if you are about to land, and so is probably not feasible.

In short, if my guess is correct, iFly can't do anything about it, if the root cause is that the device itself stops reporting GPS updates.

One fix that comes to mind is getting an ADS-B device, such as Stratux, to feed you the GPS location. This seems to be working well for many pilots.

Yes, I would buy or build a Stratux.

John, what does "I still see targets" mean?  Do you mean traffic targets?  (Are you already using an ADSB-in receiver?)

Good suggestions. However, IFLY did not give "No GPS Lock" message which I would expect. I do have the GPS app and will check it when the faiure recurs.

Next time it does this I'll send a log.
