There are some other specific things you might need to check:

  • How long does it not update for?
  • In GPS Status, what is the accuracy or precision - I think the label is Error
  • Are you in a turn when it happens?
  • Can you temporarily mount your tablet where it has better outside visibility?

In general, applications subsribe to GPS messages from the underlying OS (in this case Android).  Messages can be delayed for up to a few seconds or longer without the OS reporting it lost its lock.  I doint know if iFly requests COARSE_LOCATION or only FINE_LOCATION.  I have noticed that when I am in steep turns (window mount), or when I was yoke mounted when I did crazy steep climbs it would skip as well.  It was usually a quick loss of accuracy.  Only about 25% of the time did it report no GPS.

I don't get what my signature is supposed to mean, I'm not famous, I'm not a star and we certainly aren't married.

Yes and yes. I see targets. The ICON movement is from space whereas the targets are from earth. So two different modalities.

I have the now infamous Navworx unit that has served well for a couple years.

Will be ordering the Uavionix ECHO soon so I will be "legal."

It stops moving for over 5 minutes

The tablet is on  my kneeboard with a strait shot up through the plexi on the top of my cabin.

I'm stright and level. Not turning.

It has great outside visability.

My Samsung phone is my go-to when this happens and it doesn't exhibit this failure.

Thanks for the suggestions.

We were flying over an undercast and with four in my flight. They noticed that I hadn't turned at the waypoint and that's when I noticed my plane ICON was still a few miles before the waypoint.

I turn on the log next time and send it for analysis.
