If I'm correct that this is a bug in their format, then it's a blatant bug and should be EASY to fix (2 lines of code, probably). I think there might be grounds for optimism here. Can you contact their customer support and find out if they are responsive to your bug report?

Not the answer you are looking for, but you could purchase an inexpensive ADS-B device that connects to your phone via WIFI. There is a Stratux for sale on Ebay that has a WAAS GPS installed.

@Brian, you are correct this is a blatant bug and easy to fix, however I believe he'll run into an issue of "who are you that we should care" with a company as large as LG. Speaking to one of their engineers will be painful at best especialy since other GPS dependant apps work fine - they have undoubtedly hardened their parsing of the GPGGA record to account for the minus sign. While the bug would be easy for LG to fix, I wouldn't hold my breath that they will. It might be eaiser (and beneficiel to AP) to put in a quick test to make sure if there is a sign it matches the NESW field.

Good news for you Chuck. Walter has approved a fix for this LG-bug in the next 9.8 patch release, due out within a couple weeks, if not sooner. Look for it soon.

Wow, Thanks a ton Brian (and Walter) - that's great. I like the new phone but I was going to return it if I couldn't get iFly to work on it.
You guys rock.
