Brian:

Other than the "out of Range" issue when I have 4-5 towers I believe IFLY is not my issue with "no Heartbeat " issues.

I updated my software version as Bill from Navworx suggesteed. He said the new software will detect wifi interference and change automatically to another channel. That did not happen today when I was descending on a 45 over the heavily populated town of Corona and I could see many wifi signals popping up on channel 1.

They were not as strong, but I got a disconnect even though I had a strong signal from Navworx.

I would really like to be able to change channels manually.

My friend uses Navworx on both IFLY via wifi and to his panel using RS232. He could see the wifi drop, but not the RS232.

Bottom line: Unless Navworx comes up with a way for us to change channels I am stuck with intermittent disconnects.

OLD

I don't understand. Each of my posts on the heartbeat issue has different or added info on the same subject.

Please clarify...

I thought I read the exact same post in two different threads. Sorry.

Walter:

Today while showing 7 towers and getting "Out of Range" on IFLY I could see target and got audio warnings.

I can tell that only a couple of the many targets I saw were air to air. They usually have the word "NONE" or and A/C ID number. Several gave no indication that they were air-to-air. In fact one aircraft at my airport that was in the pattern only has ADS-B in and I could see him.

There were may targets were not AIR-TO-AIR.

It is hard to believe that 7 towers could be idle at the same time.

By the way, I am working with Navworx so that I may be able to change WiFi channels soon.

We'll see.

In the interim my ADS-B is only reliable 90-95% of the time.

I believe there is a combination of small issues that are causing this.

a) Each tablet or phone responds to WiFi signal strength and signal to noise ratios quite differently. Each may respond differently to the background electrical noise in the cockpit of an experimental aircraft.

b) IFLY is telling me I have no data coming in from several towers at the same time while the screen indication of targets seems to say differently.

c) The fact that my error messages seem to change so rapidly between "out of range" to "no heartbeat" to "receiving" makes it very hard to parse out the actual cause(s).

My flight to OSH should give me much more test time and I'll have comparison from my wingmen using different ADS-B systems and navigation programs.

John
