Thanks guys. I'll check the memory and unload unnecessary apps and see how it does.

As another option, I love my Lenovo Tab TB-8704V and works great with Google FI data SIM.  I tried Samsung but I got tired of their relentless efforts to break Google eco system.

The Lenovo Tab has been going strong for the two years and is my daily driver.

+1

I have the same tablet and have been very happy with it. Most of the time I am using Stratux, however if the battery is dead, the Lenovo table's standalone GPS receiver is robust enough to work without a hitch.

I have both a Tab A and  a Tab S2. The tab S2 is brighter, and I think is faster, though I don't know that for sure - just a feeling. It is an SM-713NZWEXAR, if that helps. I'd get one with cellular data next time - much more useful on x-country trips.

Your feeling is probably right. The S2 has a higher resolution screen, more RAM and even a longer lasting battery than the A.
