I tried the Stratus and have now returned it to A/C Spruce for a refund.
My Uavionix provides targets, but the Synthetic Vision on IFLY was not stable so I wanted the use of AHRS on the Stratux.
The unit stopped working after about 1 week. I was told I would need to reflash the chip. I tried that several times with no success until I found that the chip itself was defective. I replaced it with an SD chip of my own and it finally did reflash and the Stratux worked once more.
However, I found that I had to continually recalibrate the AHRS during a given flight. The artificial horizon would tilt a bit left or right and shift the horizon. It was stable, but not accurate.
I wanted a good stable synthetic vision just in case of an engine failure over an undercast. I have had enough instrument training to keep the aircraft stable through the clouds, but I wanted to be able to "see" what was below on the way down.
At least IFLY will show if I am coming down toward high terrain.
