Brian and Shaun - thanks for the interest in dealing with my problem.  I probably didn't explain my issue very well, so let me retell the story.

I have had 4 devices registered with iFly for some time.  My old S2 tab running the latest beta version, my android phone and a Nexus tab runing stock iFly and my windows laptop running beta.  When my S2 died I replaced it with a new Huawei Mediapad M5.  My issue arose when trying to register/download my saved S2 settings from the iFly server - as I already had the max of 4 devices registered, I couldn't register the new Huawei tab.  Once I deleted the defunct S2 I was able to register the Huawei - but could not sync the layout between the new Huawei tab and the now de-registered S2.

I was able to partially solve my issue by syncing the new Huawei tablet layout from the Nexus tab layout, so for me, it wasn't a problem with different sizes etc.  FWIW, the new Huawei M5 has the same screen size as the old S2 and so far has been an excellent replacement - once I got all the instruments back in place.

I just tested this feature again, and for me it worked as expected.   Even if you deregister a device, it still shows up for sync'ing.  Only the instrument layouts *might* not work (depends upon orientation and screen resolution / aspect-ratio).     Menu => Setup => Sync Devices => {old devices show up in this list, even beyond the 4 max limit}"

Brian, you're correct in that the older devices still show up, but in this case only the compiled (flight?) trails can be synced, not the instrument layout.

These devices are quite different in screen resolution/size.

Tab S2 - 9.7" screen, aspect ratio is 4:3 (1.333)  (more squarish)

Huawei Media Tab:   8.4" screen, aspect ratio is 1.6  (taller/skinner)

And so the instrument layouts might not transfer, by design.  Sorry about that.

Ahh, my old S2 was an 8.4, essentially the same size as the Huawei.  Wish I had room on the panel for a 9.7, but the 8.4 fits nicely!
