The "no data" flag is specifically checking for weather data, and you are correct - probably need to be in the air to get that. The traffic data may have been coming in, but the iFly doesn't really advertise traffic unless it's pretty close (5nm +/- 3000 ft). You might have seen a small red dot moving across the screen though. It's our opinion that seeing distant traffic would be neat, but we decided cluttering the screen with that is probably not the best idea.

Hope this helps,
Walter

That makes sense then for the no data status if it's just for weather, I beleive all this traffic was within that range. I'll set this up tonite and take some screen shots. I don't remember seeing any red dots and I was in vector mode to keep the display simple. 5nm seems like a VERY small window and not a lot of warning time. Guess I could post in the wish list to make the range proportional dependent on the zoom setting:)

It's what they are calling their D2 model. It seems the same as the D or Dual mode but has DHCP capabilities for the WIFI. ALL this traffic I am referring to is received on the 1090mhz. I have not seen any on the 978mhz band so I would not expect much from the single band.

Thanks for the info. I have my eye on one of the refurbished ones for a bit less $
