Can you tell me if the port for the external GPS antenna and the USB port are located in the same place on the 720 as the 700?

Chad

Yes they are in the same place.

Just one opinion here. The internal battery would be the biggest selling point for me. It seems the iFly units are more geared towards aircraft owners who know that they have a power source. I ferry aircraft quite a bit and don't always have that luxury. The external battery is great while it remains charged, but once it's dead the gps is useless to me for the rest of a "ferry" day (don't have to time to charge it on fuel stops). Perhaps you could come up with an adapter that can be plugged into the unit that gets its power from AA batteries. Again, just me, but I'd pay good money for an adapter like that.

Or an internal battery ;)

I still love the 700 though and am sure the 720 will be just as good.

Hi Ben - I'm clear how an internal battery would address your stated problem. Are you aware you can charge the external battery while in flight? Just plug the battery into the cig ligher, and the iFly into the battery. And here is a AA based battery pack I've used before, although it has half the life of an iFly battery pack: http://www.survivalunlimited.com/sola...

BTW, I can vouch for the iSun BattPack Walter linked to above--I bought one and keep it in my flight bag. Although it doesn't have the capacity of the dedicated iFly battery, it does have the benefit of using AA batteries, which are also used in my backup handheld radio, my flashlights, and a host of non-aviation devices around my house. The cig lighter adapter built-in to the iSun also means that anything with a 12V cig lighter adapter can use it for a power source.

Kind of expensive to outfit it with 10 AA rechargeable batteries, but if you already happen to have those, then it's not bad at all.

Does the 720 have portrait mode?

Thanks
