Does anyone have any info on the Skyguard EX?

I got an email from Don saying that the FAA has requested a new firmware update for most of the existing units. I now see that the website is down.

My unit was upgraded very recently and all was well with Skyguard then. It's probably a temporary issue with their website.

Thanks...what was the reason for the upgrade?

Same as what the email you got from SkyGuard said. FAA caught me and said my unit didn't send out the proper GPS vs Baro altitude information, saying they should be different values almost all the time. The update corrects that issue.

FAA had previously approved what the SkyGuard transmitted, but later changed their mind and that's what caused the update.

Don at SkyGuard handled it quickly and at little cost.

Deleted my post because it pertained to a previous issue, not the current issue.
