No, you can remove the flash drive once the flight plan is loaded. The FlashDrive is great for holding music, videos, and pictures. What kinda sucks is that you can't use any of these features if you are in Navigation. Would be pretty cool to listen to music while tooling along. I wouldn't recommend watching TopGun while flying....you might be tempted to try some of that stuff....not good!!!! :-)

You can listen to music while in navigation mode either on a jump drive or loaded on your memory card.

How do you do manage listening to music through your headphones?

Tom: I bought a standard earphone cable at Radio Shack. I plugged one end into the "EAR" jack on the side of the 720 and the other end into the "Entertainment" jack on my PS2000 intercom. I get all audio alerts from the 720 plus MP3 music. By going thru my PS2000 intercom the music mutes automatically whenever there is voice traffic on the COMM radio so I don't miss any important radio transmissions. What was really cool was when I took my last BFR and was turning from downwind to base and the 720 called out "500" [feet] and the CFII almost jumped out of his seat. "Who was that? Where'd he come from? !!!" =====Ralph
