I have a 720 and I am using the Skyradar L to receive the ADS-B free weather. In the past several flights I have received weather data around the NC, SC areas that I have traveled.

In order to pull up the weather I have been holding my finger on an airport so a window will appear giving me several options to select.

I then select the "more" option,

and second window opens and I select the weather tab.

Is there a faster way to pull up the weather? How can I see the weather at my destination without zooming out and holding my finger over the destination airport.

I tried by selecting the current flight plan, and hoped for an option to see the weather at my destination but I could not find that option.

Can anyone help me with using weather?

Thanks for the feedback! I can see your point.

Are you suggesting that we insert another option into the menu that pops up for "Opts" button next to each waypoint in the flight plan? So to see weather at any waypoint, it would become "Flight Plan (button) => Opts (button next to waypoint) => Weather Info"... and this would pop up the Metars/TAFs/Pireps form showing weather reports near that waypoint.

Is this what you had in mind?

Brian,

First I wanted to make sure that I was performing the correct procedure to obtain the weather. My method seamed that It was buried and hard to find. I know this is an add on feature so its not linked to the simulation mode to familiar yourself before flight due to the weather data not streaming until airborne.

Second I would suggest adding a weather button to the main screen labeled WEATHER if your unit is linked to ADSB product. Upon selecting it it would open the vector map and show each airport with AWOS info color coded for VFR or IFR a line with the wind and speed, visibility , and ceiling information.. You could also add the winds aloft, and Nexrad images. when done looking at the weather, either close or switch to a different map.

This option would allow me to only have to press the screen button once to obtain this info. Less chance of hitting the wrong button/option and less time focusing on my GPS. It would also allow me to see this info quickly and not have read a paragraph while flying.

If I needed more information I could select the airport by holding my finger over the airport and it would then bring up the weather in full details, or by selecting the flight plan and go to "opts" next to each of my way points and see the weather for each one that I would select.

I understand this information is relatively new for the IFY, and I am sure you guys are five steps ahead of my suggestions.

Thanks Richard

Richard - 90%+ of what you are asking for is there already, although it takes two taps - tap the Mode button and then select "Weather (live ADBS)" - this switches to vector mode with airports color coded VFR (green), MVFR (blue) and IFR (red). Radar appears on this screen too (you can choose to animate or not). I often switch to this mode then zoom out a bit to get the big picture. Tapping on an airport from that mode brings up the weather detail.
