For anyone curious about the extent of ADS-B coverage, use the FAA's interactive map, here. Wait for the applet to load, click the "Start Here" button, then click the "ADS-B" button on the left side of the screen.

After you click on the "ADS-B" button as Cobra mentioned, it will show the location of the active "Radio Stations", or ground transmitters. But there are three more buttons in the upper right quadrant: "En Route" will actually show you the coverage service volume you can expect when flying at altitude; "Terminal" will show you the airports which have ADS-B coverage in the terminal area; and "Surface" is, well, "Fahgettaboutit!" The note at the bottom in the Gulf of Mexico will tell you the information is current as of date. ===Ralph

I live in Cleveland, MS and I've been wondering about the SkyRadar myself. I went to the FAA site and saw that we don't have much in the way of coverage in this area so I'm not in a hurry to buy. Where are you flying out of most times. If you're ever in Cleveland let me know. I'd like to take a look at your setup for the SkyRadar and the IFly. Call me at 662-719-3911.

Hi Sam,

I have been flying to N Louisiana a good bit where it works great. I'm working now in the St Louis/S. IL area and have no coverage. I flew back up here yesterday from Bastrop LA and lost coverage about 25 miles N of the LA border. I could have really used it going through TN and MO. I doubt you would pick up signal in Cleveland unless you get high or more towards LA. It starts working great in the Southern part of MS as you get close to Hattiesburg and all points South. The system work good when available but needs alot of growth. So to help with your decision, I wouldn't be in a hurry, wish I had waited.

Hi again clakelaw,

Thanks for the feedback on the SkyRadar. I think that I'll just buy a Zaon system for traffic which is far more important to me than weather right now. I'm a fair-weather flyer anyway so if I see what looks like weather ahead I'll just land until I can see what it's going to do. Hope you get to stop into Cleveland some time.

Sam
