I bought the Sky Radar a couple months ago and a little dissapointed for the areas I have been flying. I am in Central MS and its worked good going West into N. Louisiana, which has several stations. I have been making trips North and it starts dropping out around 100 miles South of Memphis. I pick up no data all the way to St Louis flying at 6,500. The Memphis and St Louis areas are so busy, its amazing they haven't built out this area at least partially. My opinion is to look at the area you'll be flying to make sure you'll have good coverage before buying. If I should be doing something different, I'm open to suggestions.

For anyone curious about the extent of ADS-B coverage, use the FAA's interactive map, here. Wait for the applet to load, click the "Start Here" button, then click the "ADS-B" button on the left side of the screen.

While that map is good for showing current implementation, I can't find any good information on when new coverage areas are projected to come online.

The FAA started out with emphasis along the coastlines, and now appears to be completing the perimeter of the country and moving inland.

Weather is spot on, it's only about 5-15 minutes behind worse case. Traffic is another thing. I use SkyRadar's software on my ipad to validate it's up an running. As you can see, there's LOTS of traffic. I haven't seen a [red] dot on the iFly though. I'm thinking the iFly may only support the low freq (978mhz)? All this traffic is on the high freq (1090mhz) as it's shown in blue. I have not seen any traffic on the low freq which would show in green.

My home base is under the Houston Class B. I get weather via the Skyradar, but I have never once seen a traffic target.
