I have been using the 700 in a Piper Archer around the Atlanta area for two years without an external antenna and have never lost signal. I am using a yoke mount. I also have a reliable signal inside the hanger with the hanger doors open.

not to double post but with a bnc to mcx connector I am now using the external antenna on the plane and get 2 more satelites than when using the ifly internal antenna .The gps diagnostics now indicates good when it used to say fail ( my antenna is a Ka 92 .
