Fascinating. In the screenshot iFly says you were at 63 GPS feet. I've never used iFly higher than 13,000 MSL, but have never seen a red box, no matter how far I zoomed out. Most of my iFly flying has been in the Mid-Atlantic
I saw the red box while zooming out on my trip back to Texas from Oshkosh. Next time I see it I'll toggle the Nexrad and see if it goes off.

I have seen the Red Box while flying all over the country from Oregon to Florida and it only shows when receiving from an ADSB source and zoomed out to encompass both local and Conus Nexrad images. Good observation on the 63' GPS altitude. I have an adsb in receiver at my home and can pick up (with the help of a high outside antenna) one ADSB tower. So what the screenshot is showing is Conus and Local ADSB In (that is why my Ground speed was 0 as well!). I still haven't found anything definitive stating this is what the Red Box is all about, but that is my best guess....that is why your present position is always within the Red Box and the Box kind of moves with you as you move along your route.
