Any kind of trade-in program going to be offered to current owners? I just bought mine two months ago and purchasing my IFR subscription as we speak, but flying daytime in TX seems to be too bright without a glareshield...plus my very-soon purchase of an ADS-B unit may be sooner facilitated by the wifi option. Enjoying the current technology, but had the thought of a new model in the back of my mind when I clicked "purchase" haha.

Thanks Walter for sharing this information with everyone. Sounds like another great product is on the way! Personally I would prefer not to increase the size and weight of the unit for a battery that is not needed. I have an external battery for my 700 but have never had an occasion to use it. I am really interested in the brighter screen and wi-fi capability. I really love the ifly. I truly believe it is the most user friendly gps on the market today. I wouldn't fly without it. Great job guys!

Bobby,

Not to let the cat out of the bag, but yes we are currently testing and evaluating a Trade-In program. Feel free to contact us at 888-200-5129 and we can give you a little more details on the new unit and look at your specific scenario. A formal Trade-In program from all iFly owners will be completely ironed out and announced shortly.

The iFly 720 was offered to our Beta Testers just recently. We aim to delivery the same solid product as the iFly 700, so we encourage external testing. Full product release on the iFly 720 is tentatively set for pre-orders in January with full availability to dealers in Feb/Mar. I hope this helps.

*a tiny 10 second battery*

Will there be a warning of sorts to alert us to the fact that it is no longer getting the required power? Perhaps you could have the screen turn off. If this doesn't already happen, it may even have the advantage of making the "tiny 10 second battery" a 20 second or few minute battery, giving us more time to find the source of the power interruption.

There is kind-of a warning, of sorts. Normally, users will either have the screen at full brightness (for daytime use) or dimmed (for night). When the 720 loses external power, the screen brightness immediately shifts to 50% brightness...so, during the day, you'll see the screen suddenly dim, and at night you'll see it brighten.

After several seconds, the screen will shut down, but the unit has not yet completely quit running. If power is applied very quickly after the screen goes black, you can still pick up where you left off. (When the screen goes dark, though, you're almost out of time...there might only be a 2-3 second window to restore power at that point.)
