Group,

I took a flight yesterday from Cleveland, MS to Pine Bluff, AR with the i-Fly and it worked like a charm on the way over to Pine Bluff. However, I never got a GPS lock on the way back home. I had my Lowrance 500 onboard also so I had guidance but I bought the i-Fly to be my primary GPS. I was cruising at 5,500' and the weather was clear except for some high cirrus at about 13,000. Any thoughts from the group of why I never got a lock on the satelites? One thought that I had was that clearing the flight plan out at Pine Bluff may have caused the issue. Does the unit need to reset?

This is not common but I have had it happen. First try restarting the system - this should do the trick.

If not you need to reset the gps. This clears the cache and allows it to relock and locate itself. I think its [menu] [system] [about], there you should find an option for gps within that a reset.

Check for low voltage. I have a Tekkeon battery pack with adjustable voltage settings. The IFly works fine below 12v except the GPS does not lock on until the voltage is set at 12v.

Thanks Kent and Dave for the suggestions. I took another local flight yesterday with a young friend and I got consistent locks throughout the entire flight so I guess there was just a minor glitch. I did find the GPS page where the satelites are displayed and I could see that I had a lock; once I found that I had no further problems.
