I occasionally fly a route that has few emergency landing spots in some areas, mainly due to terrain and lack of public airports within gliding range. There are some PVT turft strips along the route, but they are hard to pick out when hidden behind trees. Even harder when dealing with an emergency. Using Nearest would work, but involves extra steps and time. I have begun to highlight those fields by using iFly's Runway Extension option for those fields along the route before takeoff. This makes it very easy to instantly locate the field and align with a runway if needed. Screengrab attached for illustration.

Fly Safe!

What an interesting idea! I never thought of using runway extensions like that--had only used them for the airports I planned to land on, and only one at a  time.

This is one of the best ideas I've seen in a very long time - sending this to the programmers.

Thanks Brolin,

I was hesitant to ask if it could be incorporated somehow. Being able to save the extensions as part of a saved flight plan would be great!

Best,

John
