It is not doable. A choice by Garmin to only play with certain EFB apps.

read: a choice they made when they came out with their own product.

I swear, they could be so much more profitable if they didn't pigeonhole folks. But, they like to be exclusive.

Off topic I know, sorry.  But if I were to build an Expermental Airplane and wanted to put in Garmin type navigation equipment into it that would be compatable with iFly, what would that equipment have to be?

In general, Garmin doesn't play nicely with others.  By "navigational equipment", do you mean like a GTN650 or 750, to exchange flight plan and/or ADSB data with iFly?  Or do you mean like a GFC500 autopilot, where you could use iFly as the GPS nav system to drive it (GFC500 follows iFly's magenta line)?

Either way, I think the answer is "you can't do that", but other folks smarter than me would be able to answer that definitively once they know exactly what you're asking.

I don't know whether Garmin took Microsoft lessons, or the other way around. But they both act like bullies.

Yes, exactly...  I will not spend my $$$ in companies that support a closed ecosystem, that is why I don't and won't use Apple, Garmin, and Foreflight products.  I'm looking at using my desktop computer at home to plan my flight plan, then transfer that plan to my Surface Go (which is almost the same exact size as the iPad), then transfer my flight plan from the Surface Go to my equipment in the airplane.  The airplane navigation equipment will control the autopilot and the Surface Go will act as backup and allow me to follow the course.  I'm just not sure what navigation systems that iFly is able to transfer data with.  I guess I can use it with my Stratux, but I would rather use the same data that the nav is using.
