FWIW, I charged my 740 up two days or so ago.  When I turned it on today, the OS battery icon showed it stll had 75% charge.  When iFly opened the battery icon there showed 2/3 charged.  I exited the program, leaving it running in the background, and the OS battery icon now showed 50%.

This is interesting. I've had my 740 for a while and never was aware it had an internal battery. It has never seemed to charge up.

Do I need to leave it plugged into 12 volts while turned off to charge?. It normally remains in the plane with power off. I do turn off the 740 manually before I kill the master.

It sounds like you might have your battery switch turned off on the back

I think we are still talking about the 740b.  Eh, switch on back?  Not on mine.

It's on the bottom of the 740b, behind a thin panel... on the left.

it's def on yours... flip it over, look at the bottom left hand corner. You'll see BATT (ON/OFF)
on the bottom part of the bezel you'll see a tiny white switch that's the batt switch.
