I was one of the guys who thought that adding iFly Streets as an option to the box seemed a little excessive, but being a GPS junkie, eventually I simply couldn't stop myself from spending the short money to buy the streets card from Walter.

I'm glad I did. What an awesome street navigation box the iFly is as well as a fantastic aviation GPS! The information provided on the main page is astounding, the graphics are incredible. Anbd I know what I'm talking about: I have a Zumo 660 on my bike, (formerly) a Tom Tom in the car as well as Motion X Drive on the iPhone. None come close to the graphics and capabilities of the iFly., Really, Walter, way to go!

The only complaint: the speakers are not up to the task of getting the voice prompts out to the driver.

Robert, I also ate a little crow. . .

I thought twice about adding the streets to the unit. . .Especially since I had a 2 GPS's that had streets in the first place.

I have been using Explorer units for backup flying, along with my GPS units in my Cherokee 180. I took a 600 mile one way trip to Houston Tx. . .Sugarland International to bring my Mother to the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Those explorers had all the airports, cities and even streets. They did good enough.

So I purchased this I 700. Totally by word of mouth. I added the streets (with hesitation).

Not only did the I 700 do wonderfully well with tracking my progress the second time there, but the streets did a far better job than my older Explorer unit. It was well worth the extra money. Even my mom could use the unit. . .(Now that is scary. . .)

There is a very good marriage between the systems. . . A totally versital unit that works well in the air, as well as the ground. What more could you ask for?

I also have to admit to skepticism; the only reason I bought it is because my airplane will not be flying for a few months and could not see the iFly 700 go unused that long. Also, curiosity.

A fantastic package with one exception; the flight planning (drive planning?) does not even come close to the aviation side. Night before a long drive to Boston, I (painfully) programmed the trip. On the way out there was a big discrepancy between the destination estimate and what I was seeing on the 700, but it seemed to be heading to the right place. After a few miles of circuitous bumper-to-bumper driving, I pulled over to check the map, to eventually find that it was going about 60 miles away. Have no idea how that waypoint got there, as I double-checked everything the night before. Bottom line is that there was no indication of the new destination on the map, nor an easy one-touch way to view it.

Still keeping it.

hmmm.....so far, I've just used it for simple go-direct-to-point-B street planning, with no waypoints or other stops. But I do know that there is a menu choice to provide trip details of all the roads and turns that are on your planned route, and you can view that list to see exactly what roads it has planned out to your destination.

I live in Boston, so I sympathize with you about the traffic you encountered.
