OK, this is getting silly. The iFly depiction is evident to most of us. I think it gives pilots the exact information they need when deciding which runway to use and how much cross wind to expect when landing, and from which side. After all, that's what we're after.

The only other thing I can think of is to remove the airport diagram and/or label the yellow, green, and red arrows as "wind components." Maybe that would help the few that still don't get it.

 I havent downloaded that version yet , but do like the  info that is conveyed.  The presentation seems to be adequate to me  if you think of it as  wind components as you are ON FINAL TO THAT RUNWAY.  I  have often thought that "this" would be an excellent  graphic for me during landing  at those unfamiliar runways and am looking forward to giving it a try shortly . And Thanks Cobra for an  excellent  explanation of this  graphic.  From  one who used to use and liked the old circular  graphic calculators  for aligning  to runway and wind direction so it could be visualized.

Did you read my explanation above?  Did it help you understand the information iFly is trying to convey?  If not, what part(s) is(are) still unclear?

Once you understand what it's trying to convey, can you help suggest an improved way of conveying it that would be more universally intuitive?

I have no problem understanding the iFly depictions, but what irks me is that it is not logical. Given te incentive a wizard like Brian could make improvements in the presentation.

I think it is very logical to most of us. All you have to do is realize it is in reference to a pilot landing on a specific runway. It shows 3 things. The narrow arrow is the wind relative to your airplane. The green, red, and yellow arrows show the headwind, tailwind, and crosswind component of that wind. It is perfectly logical. IT DOES NOT RELATE to the airport diagram or the map view, nor should it.

That said, there could be other LOGICAL ways to show it, but I don't think they would be any more clear, just different, and probably more confusing.

Perhaps, some of the confusion could be eliminated with better labeling and maybe decouple the airport diagram view from the wind component view (another tap away).

EDIT: Brian, I would also consider switching the location of the headwind/tailwind components and crosswind components. Just seems like you first want to find a "green" runway with a headwind, then see the crosswind component for that runway. Also put a label above these or a legend for the 3 colored arrows.
