Good news. Stratux update 1.4r3 has delayed turning on the SDRs for 90 seconds in order to reduce possible frequency(?) interference and to make sure the GPS also has all the juice it needs while looking for satellites. I agree with everybody's comment that it will find the satellites eventually. I personally like the internal over external wiring even if it takes longer to lock in. Before this update (and replacing the bigger blue SDRs with the smaller -lower power suck- ones in the parts-list today), I had to disable (or unplug) the radios until I got a gps lock, then I could turn them on. The 1.4r3 update basically does the same thing I was doing manually. Either way, when I get to the airport, the first thing I do is turn it on and set it out in the open while I prep for flight. By the time I'm locking doors, I throw it in the back and away we go.
Recent test:
- airport (no obstruction to the gods): ~2mins. A lot of satellites seen/tracking. I didn't count, but 12 +/-5
- Home (under a roof) ~50minutes. 6 of the 14 satellites have a good enough signal to track. For the first 20mins there were only 3-4 seen, none tracked.
