Today (8/27/2017) I completed my first solo x-country flight. It was a total of 163 miles flight and it took approximately 2 hrs of flight time. Duringthe first hr everythingbworked ok but the way back to my home airport "WARNING TRAFFIC at 4 O'CLOCK, .25 mile @ SAME ALTITUDE"  !!!

It scared the crap out of me. I was breaking my neck to figure out who/what was behind me while little mark on the screen was showing "0" (zero).

I think I aged 10 extra years until I found out it must be a "ghosting" issue! Whewww! This is really unaccaptable... You don't want a so called early warning/ disaster avoiding aid telling you that you are about to have a collision at 7500' !!!

You flew into someone else's "puck", and the echo you saw was your own ship that was being broadcast to someone else who had ADS-B Out.  The solution is to (A) fly a plane with ADS-B Out, so the ground station will be talking to YOU too, or (B) Don't fly into anyone else's puck (hard to avoid!).  iFly does its best to eliminate ghosts, but it's not foolproof.  Make sure you have the ghosting option turned on and iFly will automatically remove the vast majority of them.

Thanks,

Menu/Setup/Alerts and Warnings/Traffic Alerts

Put a checkmark next to "Filter Ghost Traffic" and iFly will remove the majority of the false traffic.  It's not foolproof, but the logic eliminates most every "ownship".  Most every ghost is at six o'clock and 1/4ish mile and iFly can guess with near certainty that it's a ghost, and will suppress it.  But in the case you mentioned, you said your ownship was at 4 o'clock, which is a pretty unusual place for a ghost, so it played it safe and alerted.  As mentioned, with more and more aircraft being ADS-B Out equipped, this will happen more and more as you fly into other people's "pucks" until you are flying an aircraft that is also OUT equipped.

If I can find that info, Im sure I can put a check mark next to it. But my question was "where to find that info" or page... I mean how to access that information!
