Does anyone know, if I were to install iFly GPS on a 2nd iPad, how would I "activate" or "use" iFly GPS on the 2nd iPad if I needed to use it. When I fly, I typically carry my iPad to the hotel or with me after I land. I have "lost" iPads doing that. So, I keep an extra "airplane only for navigation" iPad on the plane. iFly GPS however, can only be installed on one device at at time (without additional cost, which I may do). If I were to "lose" my hotel iPad, could I "start up" my backup iPad and get iFly GPS to start working on it.

I know this sounds crazy, but I am just a backup idiot. I carry two BadElfs, two batteries, etc. I have had a weird life and backups to backups is the way I roll. (A parachute once saved my life, as well as a liferaft, I have lost at least a dozen engines, like I said, a weird life) So, I worry about having iFly GPS on only one iPad.

Thanks!

Your best answer is to purchase the multi device option for $20.  It'll allow you to use iFly GPS on up to 4 devices, meaning that in addition to the two iPads, you could also load iFly GPS on your phone (or two) or maybe a home computer.  Any of the devices could then be used for flight planning, weather checking, NOTAM's/TFR's/etc, and also for getting briefings and filing.  Once at the plane, assuming you have a wifi ADS-B IN network, you can share the filed plan to the other devices (no need to re-enter the same plan).  This is how I use the multi device option, and it is well worth the price.

As for swapping the subscription between the devices, that's not really a good option because 1) you'll need to download all the charts and data each time, which'll take up to an hour or longer depending on how much you need to download and the current download speed (using your hotspot?  There goes your data allowance!), and 2) you are limited by iFly from switching devices but once every xx days (60?  can't remember).

Perhaps some day you can elaborate on this "wierd life" of yours.  Gotta be some interesting stories there, and I'm not sure if I'm jealous of your adventures or thankful we don't fly together...  ;)

Yes, what Jeff said. Opt for the $20 multi-device add-on and load iFly GPS on 4 devices. I have it on Surface Pro 4, iPad Mini 4, iPhone 6S Plus, and Nexus 7.

I was also once saved by my reserve parachute when main did not open sky diving. I lost 6 engines also, but in my drag racing Mustang (9.15 @ 150 mph). Making 1000 hp with 302 cubic inches is a recipe for blown engines.

The standard subscription allows you to install the app on two devices, so what is the problem? i can have both my Droids running iFly side by side!

Tom, to activate additional devices just install the app, then touch Menu -> Get Subscription and login with the same email/password you used on the first device.  If you setup an anonymous account on your first device, then you will need to contact us to get it moved over.
