Jeff, I ordered a 4 port CarNetix powered hub from Amazon but now see that it requires 7 or more volts input. I was going to plug it into my 2 USB Power Drive 2 cigarette lighter socket but it only puts out 5 volts per side. I have my Raspberry Pi plugged into the other side. How can I get 7 (or more) volts for the hub and 5 volts for the Raspberry Pi from a single cigarette lighter socket? I don't plan to mount all of this together into one case. Thanks.
EDIT: I just thought about trying to power the Raspberry from one of the hubs USB ports. Each port puts out 5v at 0.5 amps. Is that enough for the Raspberry or does it need more amps? Remember, my 978 and 1090 receivers and antennas will be plugged into the USB hub which will be getting powered from the airplane's 12 volt source. I suppose I could also plug the WIFI device into the hub. So, the only thing plugged into the Raspberry will be power in and one USB data in from the hub.
If this would work, I could get a cigarette lighter adapter that would supply 7 or more volts directly to the USB hub.
