Approach plates should be absolutely correct. I just looked at one in SC. The approach plate heading is from the VOR to runway threshold. The IFly GPS heading is to the center of the airport. The difference is 7 degrees.

It is probably time for a change in the VOR due to the shift in the magnetic north. It was done here at my home base of KHWO recently and seems to be in good agreement with the charts. I can reproduce your errors on VOR 6 approach to KJXN.

That's the answer.

VORs don't automatically realign themselves with magnetic north. They have to be manually recalibrated and the process is not simple. There are VORs that have not been recalibrated for more than a decade and, with the FAA beginning to phase many of them out, there are those that will never be recalibrated again.

GPS navigators, whether iFly or any others, are telling you the actual magnetic course between two VOR locations, not the VOR radial. A discrepancy between the two is normal and to be expected.

That's part of the answer.

You are right. You mentioned the other part. Even if currently perfect, the correct GPS course would not be FAF to airport; it would be FAF to MAP.

I guess that dovetails nicely with my other post asking about the status of the ability to load an approach.
