Here's a very compact version that works great for receiving weather. I bought a 180deg USB adapter so the SDR wasn't hanging out in space like an extended finger. $40 Pi & $10 case from the local GigaParts, $22 SDR and $10 Wi-Fi module (Amazon Prime) and $5 USB adapter (Also Amazon, 3 week shipping from China). USB-mini power cable from junk drawer.

Slightly larger than a pack of cigarettes. Velcro on the USB adapter is for antenna, or unit can slide under seat or sit on hatrack/floor with antenna on the window.

Very cool 180 degree adapter. Makes for a compact package. But you've got almost more invested in quarters than the whole project cost!

Jeff, might want to keep an eye on your CPU temperatures especially if your stratux box sits on the "dash."

All:

To connect the stratux to the tablet/phone via Wi-Fi, before you start Stratux on your tablet go into your tablet settings menu and look at the Wi-Fi options. You should see Stratux as one of them and choose it, then wait for it to connect and confirm connection, then exit settings menu and start up your aviation app. When the tablet first starts looking for wifi signals, it wants to connect with the strongest signal, which is not always stratux. So if you are having issues, drop to the tablets settings menu and confirm that you are truly connected to the stratux.

Can someone recommend a good powered usb hub? With two receivers, the stratux needs more power.

Aukey make a dual USB car charger with two 2.4A outputs that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. Bought mine through Amazon
