I am wondering what is involved with updating the Streets maps and data through Naviextras. Has anyone done this, and how often should it be done?

I went to the Naviextras site to get more info, but without having a unit registered, it would not tell me whether the updates are free, or how long they are typically good for.

Do you have to purchase updates for Streets, or are they free?

iFly Streets typically comes with a "Latest Map Guarantee", typically good got a year, but some of the older copies were distance stamped. Some have also been updated to current at the office to make sure the customer receive the latest maps.

If the Latest Map update is not available, there is a charge from naviextras.com and that varies based on the sale price at the time. It can typically run from $19 - $59 to update the US. Also, they typically update the maps very 6 months to 1 year. I hope this helps.

  1. Go to www.naviextras.com and register an account.
  2. Download the Toolbox to your PC, and login if needed.
  3. Then run the toolbox and insert the SD card from the iFly into the PC and it will auto recognize the card as an iFly GPS. FYI, it might show the model incorrectly, i.e. A 740 or 520 might show as a 720... Or simply as an iFly GPS.
  4. Then after a few second it will show the Updates tab on the left and show what's installed and available updates in the main window on your PC.
  5. It will also show if there is a Latest Map Guarantee Update. You can add other features or maps at a cost, if you want.
  6. Once selected, begin Update and it will do the rest. It's pretty simple once you do not the first time.

Note: You do not connect you iFly to the PC directly. It's is all updated directly from the PC to the SD card.
