This Raspberry Pi thing is news to me. Sounds like a cheap way to get ADS-B. I'm not afraid to solder. (MSEE.) Can someone in the forum write a sticky with a brief tutorial and links to what to buy and what to do? Perhaps "Unofficial Raspberry Pi for iFly Tablets"?
Mike, the "official" set of instructions are at https://www.reddit.com/r/flying/comments/3fscia/the_11390_adsb_receiver_for_foreflight_or_pretty/
and

You need to but the items below:
http://amzn.com/B00MV6TAJI $69.99
http://amzn.com/B00P2UOU72 $25.95
http://amzn.com/B00JM59JPG $13.99
http://amzn.com/B000TGSPV6 $3.97
You can omit the battery if you have another way to provide USB power to the Ras-Pi.
The instructions are simple:
- Download the pre-configured OS image here. (keep coming back for updates over time)
- Write the image to the SD card using Win32DiskImager on Windows or Pi Filler on Mac OS X.
- Put in the SD card and it will create a WiFi network "stratux" right away with no password. Connect to it with your iPad, Android, or iFly device, open iFly, and you should see "FreeFlight" in the about, connected devices section.
The above was shamelessly copied from the Redditt pages referenced at the top of this post.
