As someone who's been working on this project since the beginning, I can assure you that is works great with ifly on Android. In fact, that's how I use it primarily.

I can confirm this - yesterday I put Christopher's latest firmware on the rasberry-pi we're playing with in the office, and now it seems to work fine with iFly and Android hardware.

This Raspberry Pi thing is news to me. Sounds like a cheap way to get ADS-B. I'm not afraid to solder. (MSEE.) Can someone in the forum write a sticky with a brief tutorial and links to what to buy and what to do? Perhaps "Unofficial Raspberry Pi for iFly Tablets"?

Mike, the "official" set of instructions are at https://www.reddit.com/r/flying/comments/3fscia/the_11390_adsb_receiver_for_foreflight_or_pretty/
and
https://www.reddit.com/r/flying/comments/3g7urb/the_11390_adsb_receiver_for_foreflight_or_pretty/

You need to but the items below:

http://amzn.com/B00MV6TAJI $69.99

http://amzn.com/B00P2UOU72 $25.95

http://amzn.com/B00JM59JPG $13.99

http://amzn.com/B000TGSPV6 $3.97

You can omit the battery if you have another way to provide USB power to the Ras-Pi.

The instructions are simple:

  1. Download the pre-configured OS image here. (keep coming back for updates over time)
  2. Write the image to the SD card using Win32DiskImager on Windows or Pi Filler on Mac OS X.
  3. Put in the SD card and it will create a WiFi network "stratux" right away with no password. Connect to it with your iPad, Android, or iFly device, open iFly, and you should see "FreeFlight" in the about, connected devices section.

The above was shamelessly copied from the Redditt pages referenced at the top of this post.

Visit reddit.com/r/stratux for the discussion. Also, the newer images support 2 dongles for 1090es as well. Once connected to the stratux wifi network, open your browser and navigate to 192.168.10.1 to turn features on and off.
