I have had success with "STRATUX", as described in a post on VAF. I am receiving traffic and weather information. Link: http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=128742

Under Menu, About, Connected Devices, I chose "FreeFlight", and everything seems to be working.

Thanks for the heads up - my order is in. I'll post my experiences once I get it running.

Pete,

Could you give some feedback on battery life and if there are any overheating issues?

I was able to assemble the set-up and get it working with no issues. I set the antenna (collapsed - it's still too long for 978 MHz) on the glare shield of our C182. It connected nicely to the iPad running iFly GPS, but althought the Wi-Fi connected to the iFly720, the 720 would not connect to Free Flight and get the info.

We had several T-storms to the north of us and I could clearly see them on the iPad/iFly. I did not see any traffic, but didn't really expect to here.

Mine is powered by a 12V to USB converter, so I don't use the battery. The Ras-Pi is velcroed to the lower instrument panel on the passengers side - it did not get warm enough to feel, but we only flew for 45 minutes.

I'm not sure where to look next to get it to connect to the 720 . . . I'm sure this is not a solution supported by Adventure Pilot.

That's very interesting; I may try making one of these. Which radio receiver did you use?

I'm not very knowledgeable re: antenna's, but on my first ADS-B box (978MHz) I put a router antenna (2.4GHz) on it and it seemed to pick up just fine. If you do the math, you could trim down the actual antenna wire inside the plastic antenna mast to the correct frequency length.
