Thanks for the screen shots! I feel better knowing what the results of spending the money will be.

Glad to help. Please know that we are always looking at ways to improve and clearly depict this information on the screen. I can see some future enhacements. Glad this helps. I've also posted these on our Shop page for the SkyGuardTWX.

Thanks Ralph
I spent a little time out at the hangar looking how I might do it in my planes. After spending some time (and a couple of beers) looking at trying to keep things simple and not have a mess of wires running over the panel, but still give good performance, I gave up and went home. Too much portable stuff is building up in the cockpit, all requiring power and antennas.
Sometimes I think back to the Narco Mark 4 Coffee-grinder I had in my first airplane. I flew that Cessna 120 coast to coast and back with just that radio when I was 18. Such a simpler time...

Rich -

I feel your pain about location and wiring. My old Mooney doesn't have glareshield space and I often fly in other planes and wanted portability. Here's what I cobbled together to sit on the hat rack in back. It's two 10Ah AGM non-spillable batteries wired together for 12v output. There's an on/off switch and a voltmeter on the front side. The SkyRadar L (ADS-B) sits in the box with the batteries and the antenna (or antenna cable) sticks thru the top. There's a 12v receptacle on the inside for the SkyRadar, and an additional 12v outlet accessible from the outside for the iFly when I'm in another plane. A 12v charging port is underneath the switch for easy charging. It turns out the 2 batteries are overkill for powering just the ADS-B unit. A recent round trip to Dallas started with 12.8v and ended with 12.3v after 8+ flight hours. The footprint is about the same as a typical adult shoebox. See attached pic with top removed:

Interesting concept. Is the GPS antenna in the box also, and how well does it work in the back of the Mooney?
Also I was looking at the specs of the (shudder) Garmin GDL 39. Pricing is very competitive (surprise for Garmin), it is a clean looking footprint, battery powered, and features look good, except for one thing. It uses Blue Tooth, not WiFi. So not an option for use with the iFly. But this is an indication of things to come I think.
