The other day on an approach to land, one of my components announced that I was at 500 feet but the announcement was not over the intercom. I have a Garmin 430w, IFly 720, and one of the passengers had an IPad with Wing-X. Does the IFly 720 announce altitudes during landing?

Yup I get the "500" announcement from the iFly every flight. I like it.

Kent: I have my iFly 720 patched in to my intercom and so I get the "500" announced right in my headsets, along with all the other chimes and alerts. I did a BFR last month and the CFII was really impressed, after he regained his composure at hearing "500"! A simple cable with a standard phone plug from Radio Shack plugs into the iFly "Ear" jack. The other end goes into an "Entertainment" jack on my PM-2000 intercom. I have the intercom set to automatically mute when there is radio traffic. The other benefit is that I put an 16GB card in the iFly with my favorite MP3 music on it and I can listen to it on long cross-country flights and still never miss any radio calls. ===Ralph

I must not have something set properly on my iFly 700 as I've never heard it give an altitude alert like that. How do you set that up?
