Hello All,

I have a question regarding the Stratux and AHRS... Do you need to have the fan installed to have the AHRS work? I built my Stratux about 2 years ago (No AHRS/GPS/FAN/Etc - Just the 2 freq antennas for the traffic). I ordered the $15 AHRS Module and installed and updated the firmware to the latest software (4d4?). The 1st time I turned on the Stratux, I got the warning tone from the AHRS being over banked. Since then, nothing. The Stratux will connect for the traffic with no problem, but the AHRS shows that it is not there. The AHRS screen for the calibration is grayed out and won't allow any adjustments. Is it required that the fan be installed for the AHRS to work? It's the only thing I can think of....

(PS: Thinking that I had to upgrade from the Raspberry Pi2 to the Raspberry Pi3, I ordered the Pi3 and swapped everything to the new board and the symptoms are all the same. No difference at all.)

Thanx,

Chris.

Did you connect to it via the straux page (192.168.10.1) and enable AHRS button? You can disable the overbank alarm in instrument settings. Double check you  indeed have the latest firmware installed (1.4r4). Earlier version did not support AHRS.

Also be sure to reformat with, complete erase, SD card before re-loading to be sure there is no legacy files left there.

Pete

I installed the AHRS but I haven't installed the fan as of yet.  I have the clear plastic case that is already well ventilated. I plan on installing the fan in the future sometime because Phoenix gets a little warm in the summer.

I would not operate a Stratux without a fan.  It gets very hot.

Yes, I have the latest firmware and I updated the SD Card through the Stratux Page and it confirmed that it was successful. I did not reformat before upgrading the firmware. I would assume that I cannot reformat and upgrade through the Stratux website as then the software would not be able to connect via WiFi to the webpage, as there would be no software on the SD Card. So, I will have to do it the old fashioned way and actually plug the SD Card into the card reader on the computer.

Does your Stratux work otherwise?  Did you install a GPS or plug a GPS into your Stratux?  Can you see traffic and does it show your correct location on iFly GPS?

Maybe your AHRS module is not plugged into the correct pins on the Stratux board.  Can you log into 192.168.10.1 on your connected tablet and open the Stratux program?  Look around in there and make sure there is not a setting you need to turn on.

Otherwise, maybe the AHRS is defective.

EDIT: I doubt you need to reformat your card if it was working properly before you installed the AHRS and updated your program.  You could try a different release of the Stratux program.
