The standard suction cup would not alway stick to my panel due to the grainy texture. I unhooked the suction cup, spring and lever from from the mount, drilled a 3/16 hole in my panel and bolted the mount in place using an AN3 bolt through the existing hole in the base. The mount can still be adjusted without danger of it falling off. The mount can still be removed but it does leave a small hole in the panel.

This is an interesting idea, I'll have to try that.

I had a 196 gps mounted, on an gps arm, to the panel but couldn't mount the iFly in the same space. I could probably do what you did in the same space.

Thanks for the idea.

How do you unhook the suction cup? I don't have my mount with me but like this idea and want to be prepared on my next trip to the airport. Thanks!

Back of the suction cup has a hook that goes over a bar in the lever. Pretty simple.
