I went for a night flight and discovered a few things that may have been mentioned, but thought I'd mention them (again?)

I thought the iFly used to simply go dark when turned off with the remote. Tonight, it turned completely off. When I turned it back on, it didn't seem to start the navigation mode again. I had to start it with the touch screen. I would be nice to have it simply go dark when turned off with the remote.

When I had a power interruption, it didn't remain in the night mode like I had it set. It was a bit distracting to have a bright screen in the dark cockpit. I would like to have the screen return to what I had it set at, or is that already somewhere in the menu?

From what I understand the remote power button will turn the display off but the iFly will still be running. The display should turn back on again by hitting the remote power button. I haven't tried this.

The display returning to day bright mode after a reboot was a request from most of us, me included, who had the opposite problem. Flying at night with the display in night mode, then return to flying during the day couldn't get back to day bright mode because the display could not be seen during the day.

Programmers note, please do not revert back.

Mike,

That is correct. The remote power button only turns the screen off. It does not or should not affect the brightness or function on the unit. It will remain tracking on with the screen off.

With that said, I notice you mention a power interruption. On a 700, the power loss will cause a reboot and would go back to day mode and would have to reload the navigation. Now on an iFly 720, a short power interruption would have no affect, however a longer interruption of 10-20 seconds would cause a reboot as well and would boot to full bright.

You should only see the screen brightness revert in the event of a power interruption, which should be rare. We elect to have the unit reboot to full bright to eliminate frustration of owners rebooting after a night flight during the day and not being able to see the screen. I hope this helps.

I just tried it with the iFly plugged in to the house current, and no interruption. What actually happens is, when I press the POWER button on the remote, the screen goes dark. When I again push the POWER button the screen comes back on, but the Adventure Pilot screen, the one with the pilot head, biplane, iFly 700 in the center, and Navigaion, Multimedia, ImageViewer, Config, and Additional icons/buttons below. When I touch the Navigation button, it says "...Loading data and initializing moving map. Please wait." and eventually redisplays the navigation screen. It seems this is not working as you describe. If this is how it is supposed to be, I would request you go back to having it simply extinguish the backlighting and re-illuminate with the moving map, etc., instantly available. The required re-running of the navigation mode also cancells the night mode and relative brightness. It seems to keep the relative brightness for the menu page, but if it's in night mode (actually whatever mode/brightness) when I turn it off via the remote POWER button, it comes back on in day mode and at full brightness.

As for the return to last brightness, or reboot to day mode. Could this be something imbedded in the setup menu, where I could opt for one behavior or the other? I use the remote quite a bit, and could likely reset the dark screen in the day with the remote when I forget to change it back to day mode anyway.

Mike,

Can you provide a little information. I show you have one of the first iFly 700's. Could you go the the Config Menu, touch System and tell us the OS version? We may need to update your OS. Also, feel free to contact us by phone, it's a little faster and easier to troubleshoot and such. Look forward to hearing from you.
