User Maps  Modified By nwarner2010 on 8/24/2018 8:09:34 AM

Not sure how difficult it would be to impliment but it would be great to be able to upload user map layers.  Flying army stuff I have to fly off the army hazard map (depicts army air corridors, landing zones, obstructions such as towers and wire etc).  Currently I use I have to use a different app to be able to fly off the map (the other app is very clunky and not user friendly).  I keep having to switch back and fourth between the two apps while flying.  It would be great to be able to upload a custom map layer to iFly as a pdf file and be able to geo-refrence it.  I'm sure there could be other uses for this too outside army flying.

Good idea.  I have often wanted to see a "regular" road map with airport info on it.  On a cross country automobile trip, you look for particular cities, land marks, tourist info like national parks and points of interest.  The aircraft sectionals are way too muddled for me as a VFR pilot.  It's difficult to even see the state boundaries on sectionals.  Any improvement to declutter a sectional and make it look more like a regular road map with airport info would be an improvement.

Darick, have you tried the vector map mode?  That sounds pretty close to what you're looking for.  Base map layer is just major land/water features, airports, airspaces, and state lines.  After that, you can tack on the same types of details available on any other map layer:  Obstructions, traffic, weather radar, METAR/TAF, etc.
