Adding my vote for portrait orientation.

A friend has an iFly 700 and I would love to get one too. However, I fly a Vari-Eze and using the 700 in landscape orientation would block view of too much of my instrument panel. I think portrait mode would allow me to place it far enough to the right side of the cockpit to still see the primary instruments.

I believe I'd like portrait as well, but hard to tell until I can try it. Could you program the boxes and keyboard as program functions instead of OS functions? I understand this might not make the 1st cut, but it may be easier in the future if a user wants to switch between modes.

All things are possible - we own the code ;-). It's just a matter of timing. I think we have some other low hanging fruit to pick before we tackle portrait mode. Such as terrain and ADS-B weather & traffic support. But I know there are a lot of folks out there who desire this feature, it remains high on our list.

Walter, would it be easier to offer the unit as a landscape mode OR a portrait mode rather than being able to use both with the same unit. In other words when a person orders, it is set up for landscape or portrait ONLY. Not only would the portrait mode be easier to mount in most installations but I believe would be better when using the approach plates, especially after they are georeferenced.

Not really...the coding required would be the same.
