I have a similar problem with my two Android tablets, and that might interfere with this cool idea to cancel Alerts from different units.

In my case, one of my tablets has a custom ROM on it that doesn't accept Multicast. It can send out a flight plan to share, but it can't receive it.

So when it comes to Flight Plans, I treat that tablet as the "Master" tablet, the other as a Slave. I do all my flight planning at home on the Master and I do all my rubber banding in flight on the Master.

That M/S paradigm won't work too well in the plane for Alerts because the Slave tablet is on my side (right side) of the plane. So I'm looking at it most of the time and I tend to see Alerts on it first. But unless there's another way than mulitcast to kill these things, I won't be able to cancel an Alert on my Master from my Slave.

Still, anything is better than nothing and if I can occasionally kill two Alerts with one tap, I'll take it.

Do you really need the custom ROM. Maybe you can go back to stock.

It's an old Nook HD+, which has a beautiful screen and a 1:2 aspect ratio. It's perfect for showing Plates. They present at actual size, with no need to scroll. But the Nook had B&N's custom version of Android. I bought the Nook knowing that it could be rooted and a Custom ROM put on it that brings it back to almost stock Android. It's a terrible tablet with B&N's OS, but a fantastic tablet with a custom ROM.

The Developers might have fixed the Multicast problem with a CM build. But I'm running a ROM that one developer customized for the HD+. I'm content and can live without Multicast for the tradeoff of stability/useability.

I was sold on Android for years...until I bought an iPad Mini 4.

I fly with an iFly 740, and Android phone, and an iPad mini. The 740 and the phone share flight plans reliably - always. The iPad will participate rarely - it has on a few occaisons, but not often enough to rely on it. It doesn't matter who is master, the iPad just doesn't play well. It is the same in the house with WiFi and in the plane with the Stratux being the WiFi hub.

This is why I'm hoping that Santa brings a Galaxy S2 or similar :-) The iPad is going to be replaced.
