Pielit's reply shows an interesting usability problem. I wonder how many of us aren't using iFly to its full potential, either because we're not aware of a feature or because it's not easy to get to.

I realize that iFly can't sponsor a few hundred pilots to fly in a sim to do a useability study, like Microsoft does. (Although given Win8, Microsoft must have ignored what users told it.) In lieu of that, perhaps iFly can post videos from the cockpit of Walter, Shane, Brian, etc. using their iFly's in flight (in challenging situations, where it would be used to its fullest) so that we can see how best to use it? Kinda like a King course on using a Garmin or similar. Flying = fun. Sounds like a win-win. :-)

I also use the History button in flight as a kind-of Favorites. Before a flight, I pull up any approach plate, airport diagram, departure procedure, etc. that I anticipate needing, then I close them down and revert to the map. Once in the air, if I want to see anything I prepared before the flight, it's one button to the list, and one more to select. So basically I can see anything I need in 2 button presses. Fast and easy. I like it a lot!

Jim & all,

Here is a tip: With version 9 you can "Pin" plates and diagrams to your flight plan. It's like a Favorites List, only it's specific to a flight plan. And they will save/load with the plan too. It's easy to do: While viewing a plate touch the Plates icon on the right side of the screen, then check "Pin This [Plate]"

Now when you view your Flight Plan, you will see a list of pinned plates. Touching will show the plate.

Cheers,

Walter
