On the quick-look display, having a simple Up or Down arrow to show if the target it is climbing or descending from the relative altitude is more useful than actually showing the rate of climb/descent. Others have said they are not concerned about targets behind them - well I am, especially when it is closing in on me and might overtake me. Full situational awareness, guys. ===Ralph

Ralph,

We are experimenting with showing the altitude with a color coded climbing or descending arrow above or below the altitude. That way you'll be able to glance and see the altitude and if they are climbing / descending towards you. This would be for all traffic, 360 degrees around you.

I agree with needing traffic behind you. I had that scenario happen to me, where a faster plane was overtaking me from above and behind.

I was a high-wing and it was a low-wing, so we were in each other's blind spot. The vision-pro and iFly alerted me of it and we avoided each one by about 500 feet, he never saw me.

I personally care what is all arround me, not just infront of me. That includes mapping, obstructions, traffic, etc.

Excellent news, Shane. As usual, you guys are a step ahead in improvements and tweaks. Might I suggest the descending down arrow be colored brown (for Earth), and the ascending up arrow be colored blue (for sky)? ====Ralph

Ralph,

Good feedback. I'll run that one by Walter. I'm a little concerned how blue and brown would look on various sectionals and with terrain, etc.

I was also talking it over here in the office and bouncing some ideas off the guys. I think relative traffic info is very important, maybe more than just Altitude. Knowing if it is above or below and if it is climbing into or descending into you is critical at a glance.

I'm thinking I personally would like to see the Altitude, then have an Up or Down arrow to indicate whether or not it is climbing or descending. Then we could put that Up or Down arrow above or below the Altitude to indicate the traffic's relative position (above or below you). Then at a glance you could determine the Altitude, Above or Below and if it is climbing or descending. No colors needed. Just a thought.

My preference would be to have relative altitude with the appropriate + or - in front of it. That way I wouldn't have to cross check my altimeter in order to calculate if action is necessary. Follow that information with an arrow up or down to indicate whether traffic is decending or ascending if it is possible to calculate (not sure). I agree that the text color should be selected that makes the information best visible on the display, rather than representative of the conditions.
