I would like the option of choosing to always have the NEAREST airports noted on the Terminal and Sectional charts. Perhaps - have up to 3 closest airports in order to select the "best" choice.

In an emergency, taking time to search for an airport distracts too much from getting the plane safely on the ground.

I agree with the need for a "1 button" or no button push to find the nearest airport in an emergency. My in-panel Apollo NMS2001 has a red "nearest" button that finds the nearest airport with distance and bearing information dispayed. It cycles through the next 19 closest with a twist of the knob.
