i'm a relatively new owner of the iFLY 720. i've been through the doc and forums, and am not seeing much about airport taxiway diagrams. i just re-downloaded the airport information, but still dont see it. am i missing it ? how do i navigate to the taxiways for a given airport?

FYI: i searched the wishlist and applied updates forums and havent found it there either.....

thanks,

jim/funflyinguy

Jim,

There are several ways to get to the airport diagrams. They are in the "Plates & Diagrams" section.
1. Touch an airport and the Options bubble pops up, touch options, then touch Plates & Diagrams, touch Select Airport, touch Airport Diagram.
2. Touch and hold on an airport (a dotted circle will wind up), let go and the Possible Actions menu appears, then same as method 1.
3. There is a View Plates button on the Airport Information pages.

Keep in mind only airports with control towers have airport diagrams. (I think!)

There may be more ways I've missed.

John

now know why i havent found them. thanks john. all the airports i've tried so far are non-towered. another question then: do you know if i can see my progress on the airport diagram as i move about on the taxiways?

Yes, if an airport diagram exists for a given airport, it will be georeferenced and you will see your location on that diagram as you taxi. (Note that until you start moving, the direction the airplane is pointing may not be accurate. So engage your brain and make sure you orient yourself before you start rolling!

Once you start moving, the icon will generally point in the right direction as you taxi, unless you come to a stop and make a tight turn (like for a runup or as you pull into a tiedown spot).

The iFly doesn't have a compass, so the only way it knows what direction you're pointing is by looking at a few GPS fixes in a row and seeing what direction you're moving in.
