Now that it has been out a while, I'd like to hear anyone's general impressions of the 720 versus the 700. I just read some criticism that the 720 was still difficult to read in the cockpit due to glare. I'd like to hear from the active iFly user community with your thoughts on this and any other experiences.

A friend and follow pilot has the 700 and was one of the reasons I bought the iFly. I got the 720. As for the screen brightness the 720 is about the brightest screen I've seen. I even sometimes turn it down a notch and in the evening or night I set it for like the first or second dimmest settings. My friend's 700 is about as bright as my ipad. And still very readable. Direct glare on either device, or any device, will make it hard to read.

One advantage my firend likes about the 720 is the wireless updating. This makes it REAL simple in an FBO to get weather and other updates. On a few occasions we have found FBOs that had PC access but it was restricted so you can't save or build an update for the 700. The iFly connect is a great improvement to update the 700 but unfortunetly it requires a PC with an SD card reader. This is typically not found in most FBOs. A simple work around is to carry a note/netbook.

Otherwise, the software features are identical and the same running on both devices.

I upgraded from the 700 to the 720 in the RV-10 I fly --- I had (have) them mounted on the right side of the panel with velcro and the battery attached next to it. I use the battery switch as my "on-off". Readability is far better with the 720 (but the 700 was "adequate"). I do like the wifi update system.

I also have an iPad, mounted down low on the tunnel/console between the seats ---- if it was not mounted down low, I would not be able to see it very well, due to glare and washout. The 720 is much more readable.

I should mention, I have Dynon glass panels for engine instruments and MFD -- they are the older "non-bright" screens. The 720 has a brighter presentation.
