Walter,

Can the iFly support the below WiFi adapter so it could be used to connect the iFly to the SkyRadar's WiFi output?

Hi Richard,

The iFly 700 does not have a wifi receiver so you need to use the USB cable to connect to the SkyRadar.

Thanks!
Walter

Walter,

The Belkin device listed in my prior email is a "WiFi adapter" which plugs into a USB port. The link provides some technical details on it.

After looking at the technical info, is your answer still a No?

Thanks for taking the time to look at this again.

Richard

I guess the iFly would have to have drivers for that device supported in it's O/S; and then how would you load them? Then the iFly application would have to have new programming incorporating wifi support (if the harware supports it and driver's can be loaded).
I say keep it simple in the cockpit and go hard cable ($2).

Richard, Jliltd is correct - even if the iFly had the drivers for the wifi dongle we would need to modify our code to hunt for a tcp stream of data rather than pulling from a serial port. It's not out of the question for a future upgrade, but I'll be honest: Getting all the USB port drivers to play nice together is a challenge. We tried playing with ASUS Wifi dongle drivers once (to support automatic wireless updates), and it sort of worked but caused all sorts of other havoc. Maybe Belkin works better, I'll put that on the list to play with sometime.
