I have a 700 and cannot seem to unload my last flight plan. I've tried the configuration/calibration process moving the sylus (spelling??) around the screen several times but not luck at this point so of course it's basically unusable. As some one posted previously would powering it up and leaving it face down for the night cure the problem? Whether it has anything to do with it or not the problem seemed to appear after I installed the new updated SD card from IFLY.

Thanks Mike

The 700 is getting pretty long in the tooth, and unfortunately display calibration issues tend to grow over time.  The "leave it on overnight face down" trick is worth trying, but is not a guaranteed solution.

If you cannot get the screen to calibrate, then you have only two options:  Send the unit in to AP for a screen replacement, or replace the unit.  Due to the age of the 700 and the cost of a screen replacement, I would not recommend that option.  With the ability to run iFly on a tablet so that the device can be used for other purposes besides flying, unless you absolutely need the sunlight-readable display, I would recommend the tablet approach, but the current 740b is a very good option if you need the sunlight-readability.  The display is much brighter than the 700, and the calibration issue is much less likely to occur (I don't think I've ever heard anyone with display calibration issues on a 740 or 740b).

Not sure what you mean by "new updated SD card from iFly".  If you did that for an operating system / firmware upgrade, there may be some relationship to your calibration because I think the calibration may be reset to defaults during that process.  If you did that just to get the latest iFly application software, then there would be no connection.

Thanks for the info. When I mentioned the updated SD that's the 8GB SD card that IFLY offered for about $25. The problem with not being able to unload my flight plans started when that card was installed from the first start. However reinstalling my old 4 GB card then acted the same ( couldn't unload the flight plan). Not to be cheap or anything but I really can't see spending the $$$ for a new 740 unit so I bought a 700 (that had been refurbished by IFLY) for $100 from a friend of mine who just bought a new 740.  Of course my new 8GB SD chip won't work in the new (to me) 700 as it's apparently licenced (if that's the word) for my old one. I talked to someone at IF and guess I need to send it in. As an old Mechanic by trade I just have a problem throwing stuff away when I think it can be fixed but guess that isn't the case with all the new electronic stuff.

I think it's just coincidence that the calibration issue was noticed when the new SD card was first used.

Try the face-down, powered on trick.  If it doesn't work, then the mechanic in you can still choose to fix the device by replacing the screen.  Unfortunately, you will find that it will cost more than what you paid for the used device, and then you have to decide whether you consider that a worthwhile investment.
