Just put 24 flight hours (SNF) on my new pingBuddy and have a couple of questions:

1) Is there any way to get rid of my ghost? It's unsettling to see a red target on my tail.

2) Found targets up to 1/2 mile from where they are indicated; could this be some sort of delay in ADSB, pingBuddy or iFly?

3) Found uAvionix booth at SNF, said they are working on an affordable ADSB out. Are you looking at this for the iFly?

Two great products. On a long trip, I get to experiment with more iFly features and appreciate the work you put into this.

The Ghost should automatically be detected and removed.  This is probably related to issue #2.  The traffic is shown when the data arrives - there is no lag in the ping or iFly side.  But sometimes the FAA system gets a bit laggy - which can cause traffic to be off, and "ghosts" to appear.  You can remove the ghost alerts by touching it and selecting the "Track" option (basiclly treat the ghost as your wingman).

Forgot to answer question 3: Yes, we are very excited about the Ping ADSB out.  In fact they have one for Experimental/LSA aircraft, the Echo, which we not only support - we're retailing that product.

Hi, I'm still looking at the Echo, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I would like to hard wire to the iFly 740 unless I have some confidence the wifi will work. Echo's limitation of about 8ft of RG400 antenna coax and about 6ft separation from the transponder antenna requires the Echo be mounted somewhere behind the seats in my RV7. There's also the issue with the 2020 compliant GPS source availability. Anyway I'm not sure how robust a wifi is inside the cockpit with things like the metal seat backs attenuating the signal. My iFly is mounted in the center of my panel and provides NMEA to my Dynon D100 and Trutrak AP. The question is: Will the iFly take the Efis wire signal on COM 2 or will the wifi be sufficient?  Thanks, Bob

Bob, I think you found another bug in our new forum - thanks!

The wifi should work fine anywhere in your cockpit - I think that would be your best option.  

Actually I think that would be your only option - the Echo does has a serial out option, but if your USB is being used to drive your autopilot, it's not going to be available for use as an adsb receiver.
